We’ve done all the legwork for drivers in the Land of Enchantment and compiled state minimums, average auto premiums, and more.  If you’re shopping around for car insurance or just have questions you need answered, you’ve come to the right place.

State Minimums

If you’re not insured, New Mexico will know about it. Not because they have eyes in the back of their heads, but thanks to an electronic system that keeps them up to date. Save yourself the trouble and get the minimums of:

  • $25,000 for the bodily injury or death of one person
  • $50,000 for the bodily injury or death of two or more people
  • $10,000 per accident for property damage

Violations And Fines You’ll Want To Avoid

Don’t drive without insurance. If you do, expect a Notice of Suspension of Registration letter. Once you get one, you’ll have to return your license plate to the MVD within ten days or face a:

  • Minimum fine of $100
  • Reinstatement fee of $30
